The Signal Movie Review Trailer and Analysis

May 21, 2008

I didn’t know much about the movie ‘The Signal’ when I sat down to view it but from the moment I started to watch, I was instantly hooked.

The movie is written in 3 parts (transmissions) by three different writers from three different viewpoints. The first sets the story in motion, the second brings an element of comedy and the third wraps things up with a little romance added in for good measure.

George A. Romero’s Diary of the Dead Review

April 30, 2008

This movie is getting very mixed reviews at the moment, with people seemingly under impressed with it on a whole I thought that I would give some of my more positive thoughts on the movie and why I actually found it to be quite enjoyable.

Untraceable Movie Review Starring Diane Lane

April 12, 2008

untr121507.jpg

Untraceable is a movie I had been looking forward to watching for a while now. After seeing some trailers which made it look pretty good I was excited to finally get to see it last night. Unfortunately for me though the movie turned out to be nowhere near as good as I had hoped and I can honestly say I thought it was a complete letdown.

The basic storyline is that F.B.I. cyber crimes specialist Jennifer Marsh (Played by Diane Lane) stumbles across a website called KillWithMe.Com which allows its viewers to control how quickly a victim dies. Starting with a tiny defenceless kitten and moving on to human victims set in a series of horrible traps and torture devices the killer invites his viewers to log on and ‘kill with him’ as the more people who log onto the site, the quicker the victim will die. Bionic Woman TV Show starring Michelle Ryan

March 14, 2008

bionicwoman.jpg

I have watched a few episodes of the new bionic woman TV series and surprisingly after the bad press I’ve heard about the show I ended up really enjoying it!

The series stars Michelle Ryan, who if you are from the UK you will undoubtedly know best for her role as Zoe Slater in Eastenders; infact you will find it hard to think of her as anything else for a while. Remember her screaming at Kat Slater? The scene where she realises Kat’s her mum? Classic Stuff, lol. Anyhow, I was sceptical about how well Michelle could carry the show but after having watched a few episodes now I think she’s doing a lot better than people are giving her credit for. The American accent is not entirely awful, in fact it quite suits her and there’s no denying she’s looking great! Read more

Right at Your Door Movie Review

March 4, 2008

rightatyourdoor2.jpg

Written and directed by Chris Gorak ‘Right at your door’ is a movie that I ended up watching one day when I was bored. I had heard little to nothing about it so when it turned out to be pretty damn good I was pleasantly surprised and entertained for a couple of hours.

Right at your door is centred round a ‘Dirty Bomb’ that goes off in Los Angeles. It is soon realised that the ash from the bomb is giving off harmful gasses making the air outside toxic. People are warned to stay in their homes, and to make their houses as air tight as possible to stop the toxins getting in. Young career woman Lexi is trapped at her workplace as her husband Brad attempts to get through the roadblocks and reach her but after his attempts fail he stocks up on duct tape, leaves a box full of amenities outside the house just incase his wife returns (you know she’s gonna) and barricades himself inside. Sweeny Todd Movie Review and Analysis

February 24, 2008

sweenytodd.jpg

I may have mentioned a few hundred times or that I’m slightly obsessed with musicals. Well, I finally got round to watching Sweeny Todd the other night and it completely blew me away! I had no idea that it was going to be a full musical, I thought there might be a few songs dotted about here and there and the rest would be dialogue but in reality it was full of music and quality music at that!

As ever Johnny Depp stole the show as Sweeny Todd/Benjamin Barker a man who has resorted to desperate measures for revenge after losing his wife and daughter to the town Judge (Played by Alan Rickman). After setting up his barber shop above Mrs Lovett’s (Helena Bonham Carter) pie shop he soon realises Read more

The People Under The Stairs Classic Wes Craven Movie

February 16, 2008

people-under-the-stairs-us-dvd.jpg

I’ve always been a fan of Wes Craven, and come to think of it ‘The people under the stairs’ was probably the first film of his that I ever saw. A cross between comedy and horror it’s the kind of movie that reminds me of films such as The Goonies but with a much darker twist.

The story has a disturbing underlying tone of incest and sadomasochism which although isn’t fully explored we are always aware of its presence as viewers and it is often touched upon in places but never fully explored. This in itself is a large part of what makes the film work as we don’t NEED to see any of this to understand how completely messed up the main characters are. Read more
